Aldridge 2nd XI started the season well with a good win at Rugeley 2nd XI. Losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Ben Arblaster and George Handsaker built a solid opening partnership and got the innings off to a strong start in bright sunshine. Ben Arblaster went on to make 82 and along with an excellent 50 by Ben Morris and some useful contributions from the middle and lower order (including a well made 20 by Mark Beardsmore on his return), Aldridge 2nd XI posted a competitive total of 240-8 from 50 overs on a testing pitch.
Rugeley 2nd XI started their innings well, with Ali Fawcett finding the boundary on a number of occasions. He was, however, dismissed by an excellent catch from Ben Morris off the bowling of Rob Steadman for 36 and momentum began to shift firmly in the away side's favour. Ben Morris and Ali Milne were in fine form with the ball, taking five wickets between them and it was left for Aaron Nijar to complete the innings with Ben Arblaster taking a sharp catch behind the stumps as the home side were bowled out for 135 off 29.5 overs.
